Governance

The foundation of secure & compliant IT. Our governance practices are essential to ensuring security, compliance, and strategic alignment in UCalgary’s IT landscape.

The University of Calgary follows a shared governance model that balances responsibilities among key bodies: 

  • Board of Governors: Oversees operations, strategic direction, resource management, and institutional risk. 
  • General Faculties Council (GFC): Focuses on academic affairs including; curriculum, teaching, and research policies. 
  • The Senate: Enhances the university's community engagement, elects the Chancellor, and approves honorary degrees.
