2026 UCalgary Wi-Fi Service Upgrade

UCalgary is upgrading its Wi-Fi network to improve reliability, performance, and long-term capacity. Upgrade work is being completed building by building, with upgrades across Main Campus and satellite locations nearing completion. 

Wi-Fi at the Foothills Campus and MacKimmie Tower will be upgraded in Fall 2026. Until then, please continue using the airuc-secure network in these locations.

Final project work and service optimization will continue through March 2027.

1. Select UC-Secure or UC-Residence.
2. Enter your IT username and password. Your IT username is the first half of your Ucalgary email address (eg: if your IT/email account is "john.smith@ucalgary.ca" your IT username is "john.smith").
3. Click “Trust” to accept the system certificates.

If you're having trouble connecting to Wi‑Fi after setting it up, restart your device and then try connecting again.

If you've connected to this network before, it may help to forget the network first and then reconnect.

Include your building, device type and the network name you are trying to connect to.

If you have successfully connected to the new Wi-Fi network, and you want to report an issue with the new network (connection issues, deadspots, intermittent access), click here.

Each building will be upgraded during a scheduled maintenance window on a designated day. The Foothills campus upgrade will be scheduled during a period that minimizes disruption to classes, such as Fall Reading Week or the week preceding the holiday break.

• Wireless service may be unavailable or intermittent while access points are being replaced.
• Wired network connections are expected to remain available in most areas. 
• Devices and peripherals that rely on wireless connectivity may experience interruptions during the maintenance window.

• Save your work before the maintenance window starts. 
• Use a wired connection where available. 
• Use mobile data or an off-campus network if you need wireless access during the outage. 
• Restart your device after the upgrade is complete. 

As part of the upgrade, UCalgary is simplifying Wi-Fi network names by retiring the "Air" prefix and moving to the "UC" naming structure. 

During the transition, you may see different network names in different buildings. Some buildings will use the new UC-Secure network while others may still use AirUC-Secure until their upgrade is complete.
