Saunders was a founding member of the Faculty of Law and played an integral role in shaping its character and direction in its early years. Throughout his career, he remained a dedicated member of the university community, contributing through his academic expertise, institutional service, and commitment to colleagues and students alike.

Saunders brought a wealth of experience and insight to the Faculty of Law, serving in key leadership roles, including Associate Dean (Academic). An accomplished scholar and dedicated educator, he was deeply committed to legal education and enriched the Faculty through his teaching, research, and mentorship.

A proud Welshman, he maintained a deep connection to his heritage and had a lifelong passion for sports, including rugby, baseball, and curling. He was always eager to share stories, connect with others, and celebrate the accomplishments of those around him. His love for his family was evident to those who knew him, and he often spoke with great affection about the people who were most important to him.

We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, former students, and colleagues during this difficult time.
